No matter what you have in mind you’ll find the perfect free stenciling pattern here!
It's true! You'll find some pretty unique
free printable stencils
on this web site like the ones on this page and all of those listed in the right column.
Have you ever seen something painted on a wall but at first you thought it was real? Well, that's called Trompe L'oeil which means "trick the eye" in French. Well, we have several projects using
Trompe Loeil Stencils
and one even offers a free
Trompe L Oeil
Stencil of an old fashioned key bow that you can paint on the doors in your house. Won't that be fun!
Let’s start with a very unique design not usually seen among the printable stencils found on the web. The
Pineapple Stencil
is a very popular design for home use and mostly in country settings. It is a symbol of welcome and hospitality which is what makes it so well loved. I think that it is not a common free stenciling pattern because the object itself demands a lot from the designer with the details it requires. But I love designing stencils so here is the one I created just for you - free!
If you have been to any of the other pages of
free stencils
(just click on any of the options on the right) you may have read some of the tips that I like to share about working with
free stencil patterns
that you print on paper. So, bear with me because I need to repeat those stenciling techniques here for anyone new to working with
free stencils to print
on paper.
Don't miss the video below for a great project idea!
Tips for Working with Paper Stencils -
The first thing I do after printing my stencil is to cover it with a clear coating like clear shelf liner. If you don’t have any of that handy and need to get started now just run strips of clear packing tape across the entire page slightly overlapping the edges. You can trim the excess of any clear cover that hangs over the edge of the page. Once you have the clear protective coat on just cut out the openings and use your stencil. Now you can wipe the stencil clean with a damp cloth after each use.
Speaking of a unique free stenciling pattern, this is the
Toile Stencils
that I mentioned above. It is probably the only one of it’s kind among free printable stencils for much the same reason as the pineapple above. Toile is a very detailed design and stencils are designed to produce simple images.
This is one of my favorite stencils. This is The Venus de Milo.
OK! This is absolutely unheard of - free two overlay
printable stencils!
Well, I have an agenda. I want you to try using a two overly stencil and discover how great they are for producing a detailed painting. Multiple Overlay
Stencil Patterns
are designed to leave us with more of a hand painted image.
So how do you use a two overlay stencil you ask? Well, do you notice the triangles in each corner of the two stencils. After you cut out each stencil including the triangles, tape Overlay 1 in place and with a pencil mark the triangles on your surface. Paint Overlay 1 with a very light Gray. Carefully remove Overlay 1 and wait for the paint to dry. Then line up the triangles of Overlay 2 with those left from Overlay 1 and tape in place. Then paint with a Medium Gray. When you remove Overlay 2 you’ll immediately notice the shadow effects left by the second stencil.
Did you notice I went all Picasso on you! This free stenciling pattern comes from a combination of our two most popular pages. They are the
Graffiti Art Stencils
and the
Cool Stencils.
Enjoy!
