Decorating With Pumpkin Stencils!

Don't be scared! Here are some great pumpkin stencils and Halloween Crafts Projects for you to kick off the Scary Season. I even have a video for you to personally join me on this Pumpkin Crafts Adventure.

I hope you’re ready for some free Halloween Stencils and great ideas of what you can do with them. You may already have plans for your Halloween Crafts and that’s great but I’m excited to share with you a few things that I cooked up here with some fun pumpkin stencils and jack o lantern stencils that I drew up and a video so that I can personally share the fun I had with them.

I used these three pumpkin stencils to decorate two fabric tote bags (the orange one bought at a thrift store and the white one bought at a craft supply store), a white paper bag (bought in a pack of ten at the discount store) and a small glass jar (also from the thrift store). See more in the video below.

So, the real question is, “Are you looking for a stencil of a pumpkin or a stencil to carve your pumpkin.” Well, I didn’t know without talking to you personally so I’ll just give you some of each. This page has one jack o lantern stencil for pumpkin carving but for more of these fly over to Free Pumpkin Carving Stencils where you’ll find a few scary designs that are much more than just an evil face. Find the Black Cat in Moonlight and the Gonna Getcha Monster for a start. Then crawl on by Jack O Lantern Stencils for a couple of new face patterns.

Ready to carve yet? If you are going to cut up a pumpkin than don’t forget to visit our Pumpkin Carving Page if you need to know more about using pumpkin stencils to tap out the puuurrrrrfect design!

Done with the pumpkin carving yet? No! Can’t stand the mess? Here’s a Pumpkin Crafts idea for you. Use a plastic craft pumpkin to carve your jack o lantern this year. No Mess! No Fuss! And boy did it come out cute. Best yet you can use any of the free pumpkin stencils we have for you.

Are you new to working with paper stencils? If so (or even if not) you should know that you can prepare your paper stencils so that they can be used again and again. Yeah! That’s right. The one you just printed can become a long term free stencil. It’s easy. Do you have some of that clear, wide packing tape? Just use it to run even strips covering all of the paper surfaces before you cut out the stencil. Burnish or rub the tape down to get the air pockets out. That’s it.

For more on working with paper stencils see our article on Stencil Downloads.

If you think you’re going to become a downloadable stencil fanatic then get yourself some clear shelf liner paper to cover your stencils before cutting them out. It’s so much easier and it’s really not expensive at all. You’ll love the ease this provides.

By the way, I like to do just the top side of the paper. If the bottom is slick it can encourage paint to bleed under the stencil and smudge your surface. The underside may get wet when you wash it but just let it dry and you can flatten it back out by storing it in a book.

Working with paper stencils has a few more advantages. You can adjust the size of your paper stencil to fit the size of your project. Just take the page to a copier and reduce or enlarge. Then cut out the stencil openings. It's that easy and you can’t do that with a plastic stencil.

Well here’s that video where I use these free pumpkin stencil on some Halloween Craft Projects!
