Stencil Download – The High Tech Way To Get Your Stencil Designs!
So, you're curious about this stencil download phenomenon? Well, I have a confession. I'm in love with my computer. Well, alright! But it does give me all the information and sources I ask for. It lets me browse and shop without ever saying a word. And it’s always faithfully waiting here for me to stroke the keys and zoom, off to our next project. If you are a crafter or artist you know what I mean. But did you know that there are sources where you can download a stencil design?
Well, there you are! Download, print and off you go! Sounds great, right? But some of you might be thinking, “How does this work?” Well, it’s really quite simple. Find a site offering downloadable stencils, make your selection and purchase (unless the designs are free- yippeeee). Then, just follow the instructions of the site to download your file. Some sites will lead you to a download button and others will email it to you for safety and security measures.
Usually you'll get a PDF file. This is a file compatible with Adobe Reader which should be installed on your computer. If you don’t have it, you can download that for free at
www.adobe.com.
If you share my lack of patience, then you need to at least look into stencil downloads. Even if you have patience, it's a great way to go and the choices available to you are growing all the time.
You also gain some flexibility with size when you download a stencil. You can reduce or enlarge it on a copy machine to fit your project space. That's a big deal! You're limited with a pre-cut plastic stencil because you cannot change the size.
Need I mention that you’ll save money, too. Well, it’s true. Of course you don’t have to pay shipping. And downloadable stencils are much less expensive because there are no manufacturing costs, storage costs, tracking costs… You are just paying for the design.
Also, you can trace the stencil design onto materials called stencil film for permanent patterns. This is usually sheets of acetate or mylar. It's clear (for tracing) and water resistant. You will find a wide variety of products that are just for stencil making. So you will only need to cut once.
Here is a great source of downloadable stencils for you to check out. Just follow the link:
