I bought a pack of 10 plain white bags from the local dollar store. I bet that you might even have a few plain brown ones that you have brought home from some of your shopping trips. Well, you can use those too.

Here are a couple of hints for working with free stencils to print. Before you cut them out, cover the top of the paper with a clear protective coating like clear shelf liner. This way you can use your stencil again and again. After painting, just wipe off the top with a damp cloth and store it in a book to keep it flat.

Didn’t it come out cute! And notice that it doesn’t feature the normal red and green. It’s great to weave some other colors into the mix for the Holidays.

You may notice a gold bag in the top picture with a purple ornament. Well, that was just a plain brown bag that I spray painted gold before the stencils went on. This idea can open up a new world for your Christmas craft ideas. Paint bags silver and gold, red and green or fuchsia and cyan (for a real retro look).

By the way, you may have noticed above that I only suggested to cover the top of the paper with a clear protective coating. That’s because a slick back will encourage paint to seep under and mess up your clean paint lines.
